Lima, Jun. 06 (ANDINA).- Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) will allocate 290 million soles (about 97 million dollars) to implement 42 electrification works, which will benefit 280,000 people in twelve regions of the country, reported Saturday MEM’s general director of Rural Electrification, Fernando Rossinelli.
Works will benefit regions of Amazonas, Ancash, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Huancavelica, Huanuco, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Junín, Pasco, Piura and San Martín, he said.
According to Rossinelli, this investment is part of the government’s Economic Stimulus Plan implemented by MEM in different regions of the country, through the Rural Electrification Program.
Works include 9 projects in Huanuco Region (first group), which will require an investment of 86 million soles, and 11 other projects (second group) worth 39 million soles.
There are 11 other projects (third group) under bidding process worth 93 million soles, he stated.
Rossinelli noted that MEM will launch a tender offer for the fourth package of rural electrification works worth 70 million soles in Jul-Aug this year.
