Tacna, May 17 (ANDINA).- The Meeting of Gender Focal Point Network (GFPN) will be held today and tomorrow in the southern region of Tacna, Peru, in the framework of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.
The meeting will bring together women delegates from the 21 member economies, including government officials, researches and civil society representatives.
The GFPN meeting aims to promote the application of the framework for the women's integration in APEC states in order to achieve substantive gender equality, and women’s economic integration in the Region. It also seeks to promote women’s participation in the different APEC fora, collect gender disaggregated data and share best practices for gender integration in each economy. Tacna’s 6th Meeting of Gender Focal Point Network is a continuation of the APEC 2008 Women and Gender meetings that cloncluded yesterday after seven consecutive work days in the “White City” of Arequipa.
The 13th APEC Women Leaders Meeting was one of the most important APEC meetings held in Arequipa because important conclusions were reached and embodied in a document entitled “Arequipa Recommendations”.
The “Arequipa Recommendations” seek to promote financing plans to support exports by businesses led by women from APEC member countries, as well as micro-financing for micro and small enterprises of the same kind.
