"From 2006 to December 2010, 2,260,045 jobs were created nationwide, surpassing the 1.5 million goal set by this government," she told Andina.
Manuela Garcia noted that the key sectors that provide most jobs are services, industrial and construction.
"Restaurants, educational institutions, spas and shopping centers became major sources of jobs; which is why inspection visits played an important role in ensuring the safety and health of workers," she added.
The minister pointed out that about 326,000 workers were added to payrolls of formally-registered private companies with three or more workers between January 2010 and January 2011.
