Lima, Jun. 23 (ANDINA).- The Peruvian exhibition Deep Roots (Raices Profundas) will be opened tomorrow at 18:00 hours (23:00 GMT) at Peru’s embassy in Washington DC. It is made up of the work of 13 Peruvian artists that have gather their works under the curatorship of Dora Espinoza.
It is a multidisciplinary exhibition influenced by the many pre-Columbian cultures, in the line that the indigenist community sets it out. This exhibition is the first of its kind that shows different techniques, tendencies and styles under this genre.
“The art, in any of its manifestations, constitutes a true testimonial language of the social, political and geographic content that surrounds it,” said Dora Espinoza, who stated that this is basically one of the intentions of the exhibition: let people know the Peruvian identity.
This exhibition is the confirmation of its ancestral roots and is formed by authentic representatives of the contemporary Latin-American art. The curator says that taking care of the exhibition has been very rewarding, since the work has let her go back to her roots.
“In the process, I learnt it doesn’t matter how far you are from your country, or how long you have been away, or how much you have learnt or seen around the world, our roots will always be reflected in our lives and in our creations.”
