11:58 Three Peruvians compete for the first time at Winter Olympics in Vancouver
 
Lima, Feb. 13 (ANDINA). Three Peruvians athletes will compete at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada.

This is the first time Peru will be participating in the Olympic Games, along with other counties like Cayman Islands, Colombia, Ghana and Pakistan. 

Peruvian cross-country skier Roberto Carcelén, 39, who lives in Seattle, USA, will represent our nation in this event.

Carcelen has always wanted to represent Peru in the Winter Olympics, according to The Seattle Times.

Brothers Manfred Oettl Reyes aged 16 and Ornella Oettl Reyes, 18, will also represent Peru competing in the Alpine Skiing category.
 
The 2010 Winter Olympics opened last night in Vancouver, welcoming some 2,500 athletes to the Canadian city.

A record number of 82 countries are represented at the 21st Winter Olympics, which run from the 12-28 February, with debuts from Cayman Islands, Colombia, Ghana, Pakistan and Peru.
