Florence, Dec. 08 (ANDINA).- Peruvian defender Juan Manuel Vargas could be on his way to the Premier League after failing to live up to expectations at Fiorentina so far this season.
The 25-year-old wingback is not doing as well as expected at Fiorentina, so the tuscan club could decide to yield him on loan in the next market window. Vargas joined the Viola from Catania in the summer and the transfer was seen as a major coup.
Tuttomercatoweb.com claims he is now on his way and a January loan move to Newcastle could be an option. The Magpies have been struggling at the back and a solid defender like Vargas could be the key to their problems.
Fiorentina director Pantaleo Corvino did warn that some players would be leaving during the winter transfer window and the former Rossoazzurri man could be the first through the exit door.
Reports in England suggest Newcastle are considering a loan move rather than a permanent deal, and this could suit the Italians as they don't want to risk losing him for good.
