“Our son Leandro was born last Saturday, April 9th, at 12:22 in New York with 3.77 kilograms (8 Libras and 5 ounces) and 53, 34 centimeters (21 inch). We are really greatful to our fans for their good wishes,” Juan Diego Florez and his Australian wife wrote in their official website.

According to Juan Diegos' website, Leandro was born at the couple's Manhattan apartment in the water, in a very natural way.

The singer welcomed his newly born baby and gave him to his wife Julia. Juan Diego felt very sad because he had to leave them to to perform at the New York Metropolitan Opera.

Florez said he was tempted to postpone the show because he couldn't bear the thought of leaving his Midtown apartment and missing the birth.
