Cyclical downturns occur in every single economy, but the worst is over for Peru, as July's output growth figure was higher than June's; we have to look forward, said Alonso Segura, the newly-appointed Minister of Economy and Finance (MEF).

Humala’s head of MEF explained this administration has embarked on the path of economic policies and will pursue the implementation of existing plans.

"The government is currently analyzing the growth momentum in the short and long term, and we have to make the decisions necessary to bring the reforms to a successful conclusion," he said.

He went on to add that Peru is growing at a rate of four percent after its economy expanded in June and July.

"The worst is already behind, and now we have to look ahead, which does not mean conformity" he told RPP radio.
