France and Peru strengthen cooperation bonds to fight against poverty

France and Peru reaffirmed their existing cooperation bonds, in favor of those families living in poverty and extreme poverty.

These statements were made at the meeting held between Peru’s Minister of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), Paola Bustamante Suarez; and France’s Ambassador to Peru, Fabrice Mauries.

During this meeting, the head of the Ministry, presented to Ambassador Mauries the actions carried out aimed at implementing the National Strategy "Inclusion to Grow."

The execution of social programs and the funds, attached to the department were also addressed.

Those aim at reducing poverty and inequality gaps in Peru.

Minister Bustamante explained the aforementioned strategy is an instrument that connects the different sectors of the State and government levels, so those interventions lead to development and social inclusion.

Efforts are intended to be conducted jointly with people, in favor of those with insufficient resources.

This way, the inequality gaps on: Coverage, quality of public services, development of capabilities and opportunities in general will be reduced.

Bustamante emphasized the Ministry is prioritizing the principle: "From rural communities to the city."

She also mentioned the Midis is promoting the non-political use of social programs, which are permanently evaluated and developed following technical criteria.

"The way to eliminate poverty is to generate and promote access to basic services," specified Bustamante by pointing out this portfolio receives “technical support” from the international organisms.

On the other hand, the French Ambassador showed France’s willingness, in order to continue working with the Peruvian government through several entities, in favor of people living in poverty.

In the meeting also participated the Economic Adviser and Head of the Economic Service for Peru and Bolivia, William Pecriaux. On behalf of Midis, the Head of the General Office of Cooperation and International Affairs, Claudia Acuña.
