A total of 20 Peruvian companies from coffee-growing regions Amazonas, Cajamarca, Cusco, Junin, and San Martin showcased their specialty coffees to various international buyers, mainly from the United States, Canada, Germany, and Belgium.
Representatives of those companies also participated in a trade mission that included visits to important buyers, such as Metric Coffee, Dark Matter Coffee, and Intelligentsia. Likewise, they attended a networking event at Metric Coffee's retail coffee roastery.
Two organizations sponsored by Peru's State-run National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida), Cocla Ltda. No. 281 and Capac Chankas, participated in the event as well.
In addition to the business contacts established at the fair, the Peruvian stand hosted specialty coffee tastings and barista sessions, supported by TechnoServe.
Furthermore, the Huanuco Region Government announced the launch of the International Specialty Coffee Fair (Ficafe), whose 2024 edition will be held in the Peruvian city of Tingo Maria from November 7 to 10.
In turn, the NGO Solidaridad announced the Coffee and Forests Agreement —an initiative that brings together public, private, and civil society actors to join efforts in search of a deforestation-free production and commercialization of Peruvian coffee.
The Peruvian provinces La Convencion (Cusco region), Jaen, and San Ignacio (Cajamarca region) are recognized as the main producing areas of the best and most awarded specialty coffees.
