Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen on Friday emphasized the State's commitment to leading Peru towards a sustainable economy —during his speech at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Ministerial Council Meeting held in the French capital, Paris.

Within this framework, he presented various initiatives promoted by the Government to generate development along with environment protection and population's well-being.

"Peru has been implementing policies that promote the efficient use of natural resources, with a focus on social inclusion, developing new sustainable economic activities, and creating employment opportunities, with the use of clean and low-carbon technologies," Adrianzen indicated.

In this regard, he detailed that articulated work is being boosted with different actors to relaunch the National Competitiveness and Productivity Plan, including specific goals for 2030 and actions related to the financing of measures to adapt to climate change, solid waste management, circular economy, and clean production agreements in various sectors.

Likewise, he highlighted the recent approval of the Hoja de Ruta de Finanzas Verdes (Green Finance Roadmap) —an instrument that establishes the activities to support the adoption of environmental criteria in strategic-cooperative management, and dissemination by financial institutions and the capital market.

"This instrument is expected to allocate private resources towards environmental projects by 2030, worth around 3% of Peru's GDP, that is, about US$5.8 billion," he added.

OECD Secretary-General

On his third day in Paris, Prime Minister Adrianzen held a meeting with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann, with whom he agreed on the significant advances made by Peru on its path to joining this international organization.

"Peru maintains healthy public finances, strict fiscal discipline, and a commitment to the fight against corruption," Adrianzen underlined.

He also stressed that the process to incorporate Peru into the OECD is a State policy.
