Peru has called on Lima Group's Foreign Affairs Ministers to meet for second time in New York, with the aim of discussing the Venezuelan situation development and taking new measures on the matter.

The meeting is scheduled for September 20th, and takes place within the framework of the 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 72).

Peruvian Director-General for the Americas Ambassador Hugo De Zela will attend the gathering on behalf of the Inca nation.

Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna will not take part in the event due to President Kuczynski's decision to call off his participation in UNGA 72, after Congress revoked its confidence in the Cabinet led by former Prime Minister Fernando Zavala.

The second FMs Meeting will be presided over by Mexico's Foreign Secretary Luis Videgaray Caso.

Peru has called on the 12 foreign affairs ministers who signed the Lima Declaration, including those from Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay, Brazil, Panama and Canada, among others.

At the end, the group will release a communiqué addressing the political situation evolution in Venezuela following the election of the Constituent Assembly.
