Peru’s volleyball team was crowned the tournament champion after they defeated Argentina 3-1 in the U20 Final Four Women’s Gatorade Cup at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum on Sunday night.

The team is currently led by coach Martín Escudero, who is taking Natalia Malaga’s place after she took medical leave of absence to deal with issues related to stress.

In the last match, Peruvians proved their superiority over their Argentinean opponents; however, the under-20 girls still need to improve on reception and service.

Leyva’s side started out aggressive in the first two sets, but later made the same mistakes Malaga had previously pointed out.

Peru had remained undefeated with three previous victories over Argentina (3-2) Cuba (3-1) and Dominican Republic (3-0). This fourth victory against Argentina gave Peru the gold medal.
