Military personnel from the Defense Department of the United States of America, Colombia, and Ecuador, along with their military weapons, were granted authorization to enter our country to carry out training cooperation activities with Peru's Armed Forces.

According to Legislative Resolution No. 32010, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Thursday, these actions are linked to the military exercise Resolute Sentinel 2024.

The event —to be held in Peru this year— has as objective providing training to respond in the best way to natural disasters and emergency situations, including medical care and humanitarian assistance campaigns.

Foreign military personnel will stay in Peruvian territory from May 1 to June 23, 2024. Their entry into our country will take place on various dates.

Possible modifications

In the event of unforeseen causes, the Executive Branch may modify the implementation dates of the military operations to be carried out. These should not occur outside the previously stipulated stay period.

These modifications must be reported by the Defense Minister to Congress' Commission on National Defense, Domestic Order, Alternative Development, and Fight against Drugs.

These explanations will have to be given within a period of 48 hours following the issuance of the corresponding supreme resolution.
