Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea met in Paris with members of France's Senate, as part of his working visit to the European country, the Foreign Affairs Ministry reported on Thursday.

The Peruvian diplomacy chief was received by Senators Jean Hingray, Chairman of the Friendship Group with Andean Countries; and Olivier Cadic, representative of French citizens abroad.

The French Senate members reiterated their active support for Peru's entry into the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), whose headquarters are in Paris.

"Similarly, they agreed to boost mutual collaboration in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, its link with money laundering and corruption; as well as to identify more concrete and prompt actions after Senator Cadic's visit to Peru next week," the Peruvian government agency reported.

On June 7, 2023, Peru delivered the initial memorandum to the OECD, with the purpose of achieving accession to said international mechanism.
