Peruvian Navy's BAP Union sailing training ship arrived at the Callao Naval Base on Sunday afternoon after an instructional trip of more than 300 days around the world, in which it visited a total of 16 countries.
Also on board were the holders of the ministries of interior, agrarian development and irrigation, production, foreign trade and tourism, energy and mines, housing, environment, and culture, who
boarded the ship before setting sail from Lima.
Thus, the government officials accompanied BAP Union on its arrival, which marked the end of its voyage around the world.
"The circumnavigation began on June 17, 2023, and was intended to shape the nautical character of Peruvian Naval School cadets through mastery of the sea under the principles of sailing," the
Ministry of Defense (Mindef) said in a post on X.
During its historic 317-day circumnavigation, BAP Union visited five continents, 16 countries, and 23 ports (21 abroad and two in Peruvian territory).
