Peruvian President Ollanta Humala held talks with Spanish Vice President Soraya Saenz de Santamaria in an audience carried out at the Government Palace in the nation's capital Lima.
The high level meeting took place at 11:00 local time, according to Peru’s Press Secretary.

Earlier today, Spanish vice president was awarded the Medal of Lima and was appointed “Distinguished Guest of the City” by Lima’s mayor Susana Villaran.

During the ceremony, Villaran stood out the vice president’s political experience and her successful career as the Spanish government spokesperson in several countries of Latin America.

“Her long and successful political career in the People's Party of Spain is an example for women stepping into politics, field that is still dominated by men, but in which we want to share the political capacity of our communities,” Lima’s mayor pointed out.

On the other hand, Saenz thanked the distinction conferred by Villaran and pointed out that Lima is an emblematic metropolis with a vast artistic and cultural heritage.
