Chile’s former president Sebastián Piñera highlighted the remarkable growth Peru has seen over the past 14 years and suggested that, from now on, Latin American countries achieve both economic growth and development.

Peru's record growth has been impressive over the past 14 years. I used to listen to speeches by former Finance Minister Castilla and now I listen to Segura’s, and I think they are doing a good job," he said.

From this point of view, Piñera advised that "we set a big goal and make our countries territories that foster sustained and sustainable development, considering that not only economic growth is important."

While in Lima, Chile’s former president also welcomed the improvements made by Peru regarding poverty reduction and urged the people to "look back and see the progress made."

As for the Pacific Alliance, a trade bloc including of Peru, Chile, Mexico and Colombia, Piñera said "remarkable progress" has been made in foreign trade, migration, education, security and border issues.
