Viettel Group officially launched its telecommunications network in Peru under trademark Bitel, which uses 3G only network, with internet mobile coverage to 80% of the nation.

According to CEO Hoang Quoc Quyen, the company's objective is to bring mobile Internet to everyone. He hopes Bitel will significantly contribute to generate a data booming in Peru. 

"In such a highly competitive market with a density close to 100% penetration, mobile internet is the future of telecommunication. And we believe that it will be a great opportunity for Bitel if we can meet the increasing need of customers," Mr. Quyen said.

Peru is the first overseas market of Viettel that has a considerably higher GDP than Vietnam. Hence, launching a new mobile network here marking a new development milestone in the globalization process of Viettel. 

With a strategy of bringing new technologies to every country Viettel invests, its Vice President believes that "Experience of operating business in Asia - one of the world's most dynamic economic areas - shall blow a new wind into the country of Peru."

With its experience in telecommunications that has achieved great success in Vietnam, Viettel has expanded its presence in 10 countries with 68 million customers. 

Companies in 7 countries including Cambodia, Laos, Timor, Haiti, Mozambique, Peru and Cameroon have provided services.

The other 2 in Burundi and Tanzania are under infrastructure deployment of their networks. Total revenue from overseas business of Viettel in 2013 reached almost USD 8 billion revenue, 1 million of which generated from overseas investment projects.
