14:02 | Lima, Mar. 17.

Peruvian passport holds the 35th position in the recent Global Passport Ranking, released by Henley & Partners, among the most powerful passports in the world.

This confirms that the Peruvian travel document has risen from 50th to 35th position over the past 10 years after it added 14 visa-free destinations to its score.

Thus, the Peruvian passport ranks 8th worldwide among the countries that have climbed the most positions in terms of power in the last decade.

Moreover, according to the same ranking, the Peruvian passport is among the top 10 most powerful passports in Latin America this year, providing access to 142 visa-free destinations.

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirms its commitment to continue working to further strengthen the Peruvian passport, which not only allows it to climb more positions in the world ranking but to improve free mobility conditions for Peruvian nationals around the globe.

Likewise, the national travel document's reputation is a key soft power ingredient, which contributes to improving the image of the country abroad.

It should be noted that the Henley Passport Index is put together by Henley & Partners, based on the number of visa-free travel destinations.

The passport index is compiled using exclusive data from International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the world's largest and most accurate database of travel information, and is enhanced by ongoing research by the Henley & Partners Research Department.
