Peru's PM meets with UNESCO Deputy Director-General

Peruvian Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen held a meeting with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Deputy Director-General Xing Qu in Paris.

During the gathering, the Cabinet Chief reiterated the Peruvian Government's support for the work carried out by the international organization in favor of a global culture of peace, multilateralism, and cooperation.

After highlighting that these topics are of interest to Peru at UNESCO, he also underscored the work linked to the promotion and protection of our country's physical and intangible cultural heritage, as well as the repatriation of our cultural assets.

At this event, the dignitaries underscored the recent inscription of the file linked to Ceviche on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Similarly, they emphasized the importance of promoting cultural diversity and public policies with an intercultural approach.

The Cabinet chief indicated that it is a priority for Peru to close the existing gaps in the sphere of education by investing in training teachers and enhancing infrastructure, thus promoting inclusive and equitable education.

Lastly, the Prime Minister delivered a letter containing Peru's willingness to implement UNESCO's RAM (Readiness Assessment Methodology), which evaluates the state of affairs to develop policies on the introduction of AI in an ethical manner.


During a gathering with OECD Economics Department Policy Studies Director Alvaro Santos Pereira, Peru's sound macroeconomic framework was highlighted —as reported in the Peru 2023 Economic Survey.

Adrianzen reiterated that it is a priority for the State to successfully lead Peru's accession to the OECD.
