Peruvian President Ollanta Humala travelled to Huancavelica region to attend the opening ceremony of the National Fiber Optic Backbone Network connecting 22 region capitals and 180 province capitals.

Integration will be achieved through a 13400 km fiber optic network. 

The first phase will cover a total of 7 provinces across Huancavelica, which will allow the entry of new telecom service operators and promote competition in the sector. 

The event took place in Huaytara town, located in the province of the same name, Huaytara, of which it is the capital.

The Peruvian leader was joined by the Transport and Communications Minister Jose Gallardo Ku, as well as local and regional authorities.
