Ministers of Peru and Ecuador will hold a joint meeting to keep track of the progress made by the two neighboring nations in pushing ahead with development and social inclusion policies.

This second Senior Authorities Meeting of the Social Hub of Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet takes place today at 11:30 a.m. inside the Peruvian Foreign Ministry building in Lima, Peru.

It will feature the participation of Peru’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Development and Social Inclusion, Gonzalo Gutiérrez and Paola Bustamante, respectively; as well as Ecuador’s Minister of Social Development Cecilia Vaca.

The gathering will go ahead as scheduled last year at the second Presidential and Binational Cabinet Meeting held in Piura, northern Peru.

While there, attendees will discuss the implementation of the commitments made at the last meeting Guayaquil hosted on 14 August, 2013.

At that time, government officials from the two nations agreed to implement policies for development and social inclusion of people in situation of poverty and vulnerability within the called “Border Integration Area”, as well as to eradicate poverty and child labor.

Likewise, the two sides will also discuss joint commitments to eliminate illiteracy in the border area and their efforts to enhance better and equitable access to education.
