Peruvian Ambassador Susana de la Puente Wiese presented credential letters to Queen Elizabeth II, the Andean country's Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.

Such credentials recognize the appointment of Ms. De la Puente Wiese as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

On this occasion, the envoy extended President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski's greetings to the hosting country's monarch. Likewise, she expressed her satisfaction for having been designated as the first female Peruvian Ambassador to the UK.

Furthermore, she underlined the strong ties uniting both nations, which share important and historical relations that date back to the 19th century, when Peru became an independent country.

On the other hand, the Ambassador stressed the current British presence in Peru —which is reflected in important investments— as well as the increasing cooperation on areas such as education, science, and technology, among others.

The ceremony was also attended by diplomatic corps officials, British parliamentarians, London-based international organizations' representatives, businesspeople, academic community members, and Peruvian citizens residing in the UK.

Said event took place at London's Buckingham Palace on February 14.
