Peru’s First Lady, Nadine Heredia, emphasized today the government is currently fulfilling its pledge on delivering nutritious food, daily, for 3,100,000 schoolchildren through the Qali Warma school food program.
"Qali Warma supplies public schools with kitchens, in order to provide our children balanced meal, so they can make the most of their scholar stage," she wrote on her Twitter account.
She also informed she was accompanying the Development and Social Inclusion Minister, Paola Bustamante, during the distribution of 173 LPG kitchen kits for schools in Chucuito, Puno.
Qali Warma has established two service modalities: Delivery of products and delivery of prepared rations. With this, students can receive a breakfast and, in certain cases, even lunch.
Regarding the products' modality, it is expected to serve 2,343,511 schoolchildren from 55,032 education centers, which are located in rural areas.
Whereas, the modality of servings will assist 758,908 children from 3,681 public schools from urban areas.
Qali Warma has planned an investment of S/.1,400 million (around US$453 million) to assist the schoolchildren from all across the country.
