Foreign Minister Rafael Roncagliolo confirmed Monday that President Humala will travel to Belgium and France on June 10-14 to promote the ratification of the free trade agreement (FTA) with the European Union.
Humala will visit the European Union (EU) headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.
He said the president's presence will have a "stronger" effect compared to that of a delegation of ministers or Peruvian entrepreneurs, considering the hierarchy of his high office.
"President Humala is taking personal responsibility to go himself as intermediary of the Peruvian market that is increasingly attractive to foreign investors", he said in statements to Andina.
In this context, he expressed confidence that the trip will get advance the process of ratification of the trade agreement.
Velit mentioned that the Peruvian government is trying to open its market more and more and place Peru as an ideal country for investment and international business.
