Peruvian firms do US$ 31.41 million in business at European Seafood Exposition
Lima, May 21 (ANDINA). The 11 Peruvian companies that attended the 20th European Seafood Exposition (ESE) 2012, held in April 24-26 in Brussels, Belgium, did business worth US$ 31.41 million with buyers from Europe, Asia and America, Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCl) reported Monday.
The Foreign Trade Center (CCEX) of the CCL noted that Peru offered products derived from squid, red parrot, silverside, silver smelt, sardine, among others.
In 2011, Peru's fisheries export amounted to US$ 1.04 billion, a 61 percent increase compared to 2010.
Exports to the European Union totaled US$ 307 million (up 22 percent compared to 2010), the main destination market was Spain with 44 percent of the total, followed by France (30 percent), Italy (nine percent) and Germany (six percent), among others.
The participation of Peruvian enterprises in the ESE 2012 was organized by the CCL and supported by AL-Invest IV Program of the European Union.
The European Seafood Exposition (ESE), which is the world's largest seafood fair, attracts buyers and sellers from over 140 countries around the world and features the stands of over 1,600 exhibitors.
