Rosa Morales, advisor to Minam's Vice Ministry for Strategic Development of Natural Resources, said the Peruvian proposal aims to involve communities in decisions affecting their local environments.
"Sustainable development should have a more inclusive look at the poorest people, in order to benefit them. Peru will propose that such progress should be considered in all nations," she said to Andina.
Morales said the proposal also emphasizes the need to take care of the environment when extracting natural resources and the benefits for communities in the area of influence.
The Minam official said the Peruvian proposal will be presented at the United Nations Rio +20 Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on June 20-22.
