Heredia and Triveño formally introduced the project during a visit to the district of Pomata in Peru's southern region of Puno on Thursday.

The initiative, dubbed "Andean Trout," aims to assist local trout-farming enterprises, mostly run by women, in reaching markets abroad.

Sponsored by the government's Sierra Exportadora program, the project was implemented in collaboration with trout farmers in Pomata --located on the banks of Lake Titicaca, at 3863 m.a.s.l.-- and other surrounding districts.

Andean Trout is a collective mark that designates the production of trout farmed in Andean rivers and lakes that come in different presentations.

Sierra Exportadora is a program of the Peruvian government responsible for promoting new and profitable production and service businesses oriented to exports which are located in the Peruvian Andes.
