12:27 Peru appoints military chief in VRAE region
 
Lima, May 22 (ANDINA). The Peruvian Ministry of Defence has appointed Army General Cesar Francisco Diaz Peche as commanding general of the military region of the Apurimac and Ene river valley, or VRAE.

Diaz Peche will take over as the new VRAE military chief on June 1, 2012, according to a ministerial decision published Tuesday in the legal notices section of Peru's official newspaper, El Peruano.

In other appointments, Gen. Felipe Aguilar Vizcarra was named inspector general of the Army, while Gen. Jorge Bustamante Albujar was designated commanding general of the Northern Military Region.

The documents were signed by President Ollanta Humala and Defense Minister Jose Urquizo Maggia.
